A plate from a pirated series of Hogarth's Rake's Progress (not based on one of Hogarth’s original prints), depicting a riot in Covent Garden Market. Watchmen with staves attempt to stop the disturbance. A watchman's lantern lies broken on the ground between two of the men's hats. In the background can be seen St. Paul’s church and the buildings at the northwest corner of the Great Piazza.
