Ralph Holt, printer, 1671–1688.
A Dictionary of the Printers and Booksellers who were at Work in England, Scotland and Ireland from 1668 to 1725, by Henry Plomer (1922)
HOLT (R.), printer in London, 1671–88. In 1671–3 he and Evan Tyler, some-times as R.H. and E.T., printed in partnership; in 1672 their names appear on Thomas Philipott's Brief Historical Discourse of Heraldry. [B.M. 605. b. 7.] In 1686–8 he was in partnership with E. Horton; they printed Sir Roger Manley's Commentaria de Rebellione Anglicana, as well as A Relation of the Conference between William Laud ... and Mr. Fisher the Jesuit ... which they printed for J. Mitchell and R. Hughes. [T.C. II. 171.] E. Horton apparently died soon after, for Holt was in partnership with W. Horton in 1688 for the printing of Florio's Italian and English Dictionary, and Torriano's Vocabolario. [Haz. II. 600.] Holt is believed to have died in 1688, as an order was made in that year by the Company of Stationers that the widow Holt [see Holt (Elizabeth)] and others should lay down the trade of printing in obedience to the Act of Parliament.
