POWELL (THOMAS), printer in London, was nephew of Thomas Berthelet to whom also he was for some time an assistant. Berthelet died in September, 1555, and his widow remarried at the beginning of the following year. Thomas Powell then took on the printing office and became a freeman of the Stationers' Company on July 21st, 1556. He printed very few books and his name is not found after 1563. Before he moved to Berthelet's house he lived in Snow Hill next Holborn Cross in the Parish of St. Sepulchre.
