Jane Clowes (fl. 1661–1662)

Jane Clowes, printer, fl. 1661–1662. Probably the wife of John Clowes, who died in 1661. On 2 March 1663, Jane Clowes, widow, petitioned for money to discharge her from Ludgate prison. The court agreed to pay her prison fees only, once she settled her debt with her creditors. 1 March 1664: Widow Clowes' fees to be paid in Ludgate if they can be for 20 shillings.
