A journal of the late actions of the French at Canada. With the manner of their being repuls'd, by His Excellency, Benjamin Fletcher, Their Majesties governour of New-York. Impartially related by Coll. Nicholas Reyard [sic], and Lieutenant Coll. Charles Lodowick, who attended His Excellency, during the whole expedition. To which is added, I. An account of the present state and strength of Canada, given by two Dutch men, who have been a long time prisoners there, and now made their escape. II. The examination of a French prisoner. III. An account of the commitment, arraignment, tryal and condemnation of Nicholas Bayard Esq; for high treason, in endeavouring to subvert the government of the province of New York in America, by his signing and procuring others to sign scadalous libels, call'd petitions or addresses to his Late Majesty King William, the Parliament of England, and the Lord Cornbury now Governour of that province. Before William Atwood Esq; Abraham De Peyster Esq; and Robert Walters ESq; appointed by a special commission justices of Oyer and Terminer at the City of New York, February 19. 1701. Collected from several memorials taken by divers persons privately, the commissioners have strictly prohibited the taking of the tryal in open court. Together with a true copy of the libels or addresses themselves.
