Henry Woodgate, bookseller and publisher at the Golden Ball, Paternoster Row, 1759–66.

In partnership with Stanley Crowder at the Golden Ball in Paternoster Row 1755–1757 (newspaper advertisements). He advertised with Samuel Brooks from that location in 1758.

The Partnerhip between Henry Woodgate and Samuel Brooks, of Pater-noster-Row, Booksellers, is this Day dissolved by mutual Consent: and the Business will, for the future, be carried on by the said Henry Woodgate, who has undertaken to pay, and is likewise empowered so receive, all Debts relative to the said Copartnership.—Whitehall Evening Post, 24–26 September 1761

WOODGATE (HENRY), bookseller and publisher in London, Golden Ball, Paternoster Row, 1759–66. In partnership with Samuel Brooks (q.v.). They dealt largely in chap-books and plays. The Rev. W. H. Dilworth wrote several histories for them. The business does not seem to have been a success, as in 1766 Woodgate became bankrupt, and died on July 19th of that year.
