Fountain Court

On the west side of Middle Temple Lane, within the Temple precincts (P.O. Directory) on the north side of Middle Temple Hall. In Farringdon Ward Without.

First mention: Rocque, 1746.

Former name: "The Hall Court" (q.v.).

There is a fountain in the Court.

Fountain Court, in the Middle Temple, is adorned with an excellent Fountain of Water, which is kept in so good order as always to force its Stream to a vast and almost incredible Altitude. It is fenced with Timber Pallisadoes constituting a Quadrangle, wherein grow several loft Trees, and without are Walks extending on every side of the Quadrangle, all paved with Purbeck, very pleasant and delightful.
