The viewer looks down Pall Mall on the west side of St. James's Street (here shown in the foreground with a pavement). The spire of St. Martin in the Fields shows in the distance. St. James's Palace is to the righ. To the east is the Palace perimeter wall: red-brick blocks mark the exterior of Friary Court and beyond is the Queen's Chapel with white stucco. Further beyond is Marlborough House with an exterior of brick fringed with stone.
