Each of the lives, including that of John Donne, is preceded by an engraved portrait (plate). Donne's portrait is signed by Lombart; those of Wotton and Hooker by Dolle, and that of Herbert by White

An earlier version of Walton's Life of Wotton was published as part of "Reliquiae Wottonianae" (Wing W3648) in 1651

The text of Hooker's life is continuous despite pagination

Although the lives of Donne, Hooker, and Herbert were each also published in separate editions, the life of Wotton appears not to have been.
