The British Library copy has a MS. note after "General instructions" that reads: "for Capt. Charles Talbott Comander of his Mats ship the .. Maryrose". Charles Talbott was appointed commander of the Mary Rose in April 1678, and sent to Newfoundland
Both the instructions and the orders in the British Library copy are signed: Pepys.
