- Note
- Evans attributes this almanac to Benjamin West, as he does most of those issued under the pseudonym of Bickerstaff. It was also published in two other printings, with the same title and imprint, and with the author given as "Abraham Weatherwise" on one and as James Noyes on the other.
The calculations and astronomical notes on the calendar pages, as well as the preceding eclipse predictions, are identical throughout with those in the 1797 almanac of the same title by Daniel Sewall (Portsmouth: Charles Peirce), some of Sewall's notes being omitted. Editions of some of Sewall's other almanacs were published under the Bickerstaff pseudonym. The Dover issues appear to be pirated, and James Noyes' contribution is not apparent.
Advertised in the Dover Sun, Nov. 16, 1796. Samuel Bragg, Jr. published the Sun from 1795 to 1811.
