Attributed to Jean Gaspard Dubois-Fontanelle by Evans. The shipwreck is supposed to have occurred on the coast of Florida in February, 1766.

An earlier American edition was printed at Philadelphia in 1774, with title: The surprizing yet real and true voyages and adventures of Monsieur Pierre Viaud.
